This project is the capstone of my undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Boston College. This film utilizes an interview from Dr. Ken Kersch as the narrative force that guides the viewer with an academic presence, through historical and political events in American history. The interview was filmed, produced, directed, and then edited by myself. All text graphics, design, sound, and additional sources/arguments were made myself.

Designed to be an exercise of my technical skills, as well as a call to action, my project prompts viewers to take a look at the issues America, especially our governing body, faces today. Taking historical events and tendencies into consideration for context, I work with Dr. Kersch’s interview to show that the seemingly unprecedented events of today are not without warning signs. The steady deterioration of political parties and institutions, the monetization of new media, and lack of accountability and civic service have progressed to allow as well as promote extremism, polarization, and misinformation.
